It has been many years since the rise of smart door locks, but the market has been tepid. One of the biggest reasons is that we are worried about the safety of smart door locks, a new thing. After all, door locks are related to the safety of the most important home in our hearts. However, under the impact of the wave of the intelligent age, the smart door lock is the general trend after all. For this reason, we specially experienced the push-pull type of the Mijia smart door lock just launched by Xiaomi, and wanted to see how the smart door lock can protect the safety of the home through this representative product.

On the push-pull type of Mijia intelligent door lock

From the model name, the push-pull type of Mijia intelligent door lock is somewhat different from most intelligent door locks. Push-pull type means that this door lock adopts push-pull type (pull outside the door, push inside the door), while our common intelligent door lock adopts the same push-down design as traditional door locks (push inside and outside the door). As for which of the two methods is more convenient, my personal feeling is actually a matter of habit. Take me as an example, I was not used to it at first, but I felt that the push-pull type was not bad after a week.

When I received the push-pull start of Mijia smart door lock, my first impression was surprise, because the size and weight of its packaging box were beyond my imagination. Its overall structure is longer and heavier than I expected. In fact, it is a good thing to be heavy, because it relieves some of my initial concerns about safety, because in a way it means excellent workmanship and solid materials.

When you open the box, you will see that the push-pull type of Mijia intelligent door lock is actually divided into three parts: the outer door panel, the inner door panel and the lock body. The outer panel of the door is a digital touch screen for password input. Below the screen is the door handle with integrated fingerprint module and handle. When opening the door, the thumb can naturally fall on the fingerprint module, and the door can be opened in one step by pressing the fingerprint, which is more in line with ergonomic design. At the same time, the included angle of the push-pull handle is set to 15, which is more in line with the mechanical structure design of the door lock and ensures more stable transmission efficiency.

There is a very hidden emergency keyhole behind the door handle.

At the bottom is a micro USB interface for emergency power supply to the door lock in case of power shortage.

The top of the push-pull door inner panel of Mijia intelligent door lock is the battery compartment, the middle is the door handle, there is a switch to prevent the cat’s eye from unlocking under the door handle, and the bottom is the anti-lock button. The push-pull type of Mijia smart door lock is powered by 8 5th batteries. In fact, the push-pull type of Mijia smart door lock has been able to work normally with 4 5th batteries. The purpose of adding 4 more batteries is to make it work longer, and the official publicity can reach 15 months.

There are also two buttons and a display light in the battery compartment, and the Bluetooth pairing setting button is on the left. After 3 seconds of Bluetooth pairing, you can push and pull the Mijia smart door lock in the Mijia APP in the smart phone, such as adding fingerprints and passwords. Short press is to enter the local settings, even if the administrator is not at home or there is no "Mijia" APP, you can add or delete fingerprints and passwords locally. The display light in the middle is an unlocked warning light. If the door is not closed or locked, it will flash. On the right is the reset button. Press it for 3 seconds to reset the push-pull setting of the entire Mijia smart door lock.

There are two more important buttons on the inner panel of the door. The first is to prevent the cat’s eye from unlocking. After the anti-cat-eye unlocking key is enabled, it is impossible to use the door handle to unlock.

The second is the anti-lock button. After the anti-lock button is enabled (press it to the bottom first, then rotate it), no user except the administrator can unlock the door. You don’t need to unlock when you open the door from the inside after the lock is locked. You can automatically unlock the lock by directly opening the door normally.

How to solve the security problem

I know that what everyone is most concerned about is how to solve the security problem with the push-pull type of Mijia intelligent door lock, so I will talk to you in detail with my experience.

When it comes to the safety of door locks, the lock core must be mentioned first. Mijia intelligent door lock has 15 kinds of safety protection schemes to protect the safety of users in all directions. Xiaomi Mijia smart door lock adopts a direct-inserted lock core, which runs through the whole door lock. Even if the door lock panel is damaged, the lock core function is still intact. In addition, the anti-theft level of the door lock reaches the highest C level in the national standard, which can effectively resist all kinds of violent disassembly.

Secondly, let’s talk about the unlocking method. Mijia smart door lock push-pull supports six unlocking modes, such as fingerprint unlocking, password unlocking, Bluetooth unlocking of mobile phone, NFC unlocking of Xiaomi mobile phone, remote one-time/periodic password unlocking and mechanical key unlocking. Mijia security chip is embedded in the door lock, each chip has a unique private key and certificate, and the chip conforms to CC.

EAL4+ standard, the same protection standard as domestic bank cards.

Let’s talk about our most commonly used and most convenient fingerprint unlocking. Fingerprint identification is undoubtedly the most frequently used unlocking method, but the biggest doubt for many people about fingerprint unlocking lies in two aspects: security and recognition rate. In terms of security, Mijia smart door lock adopts a new generation of multi-dimensional living fingerprint recognition, which detects the living characteristics of skin surface and capillaries through refraction and reflection of conductive signals and infrared light, including multi-dimensional living fingerprint recognition of fingerprint path, skin, blood and other dimensions, effectively preventing false fingerprints such as hair, fingerprint film, orange peel and conductive pen tape from being cracked.

At the same time, Mijia intelligent door lock adopts CC in push-pull mode.

The security fingerprint algorithm chip certified by EAL4+ has a recognition rate as high as 98.94%, and has a built-in security sensor, which can automatically clear the internal key data when it is attacked, thus effectively ensuring that the user’s data will not fall into the hands of others. Encrypted communication is carried out between the fingerprint module and the main control to ensure the safety of data communication process, and there is no remote downlink port to ensure that it will not be invaded remotely by hackers. Judging from my actual use, it is true that the recognition success rate cannot reach 100%. Occasionally, fingerprints can’t be recognized (once after more than ten times of use). In my experience, if you encounter this situation, you can successfully recognize it by changing your finger from another angle and pressing it a little hard.

Next is the password unlocking. In fact, this is the most commonly used unlocking method for the elderly at home, because many elderly people’s fingerprints have been unable to be entered after decades of wear and tear. The push-pull type of Mijia intelligent door lock can support the false password design to prevent voyeurism, and the longest password can be entered as an interference item, but the function of virtual password is of little significance to the elderly.

I won’t talk about the low utilization rate of other unlocking methods, especially Bluetooth unlocking. Personally, I don’t think it is very convenient, while NFC unlocking method is if you have mi band 4.

The NFC version will be very convenient, if not, then personal advice on this unlocking method is not needed. As for the remote one-time/periodic password unlocking, it is very convenient to use it mainly for friends to visit or for cleaning aunts. Mechanical key unlocking is actually an emergency way, and the steps of unlocking are very complicated, so it can’t be used as a common way. Need special reminder is that there are two mechanical keys, which must be kept away (it is recommended to put them in the car and at parents’ home respectively). According to the installation master, it is impossible to reconfigure these keys after they are lost.

Some time ago, the "black box" to crack the smart lock became a hot topic on the Internet. Therefore, the push-pull type of Mijia smart door lock is also aimed at the so-called Tesla coil "black box" on the market. The whole lock adopts a closed structure, which seals the whole circuit board in thick metal, greatly reducing the impact of electromagnetic radiation. Among them, the front panel of the door lock adopts electromagnetic protection design, and the main chip and motor clutch are built in. The five-dimensional guarantee system such as data communication encryption on the front and rear panels can greatly reduce the influence of electronic radiation, and all of them have been tested for electromagnetic compatibility before leaving the factory and passed the GA.

701-2007 anti-RF electromagnetic field radiation interference test, reaching 10V/m anti-continuous wave radiation level, even close to the lock body, the small black box still can not unlock.

  Like intelligent linkage best.

In fact, the biggest reason why I choose the push-pull type of Mijia smart door lock is that it can be linked with Mijia smart home equipment, because there are many Mijia smart home equipment in my home, and the linkage with Mijia smart gateway can just build the second line of defense for family safety again-start indoor security protection after locking the door, and call the police in time when someone invades from the balcony and window.

In terms of power saving, the push-pull type of Mijia smart door lock does not support Wi-Fi, but only supports Bluetooth, so it needs to use Bluetooth gateway to link with other smart home devices. Therefore, after choosing the push-pull type of Mijia smart door lock, I also bought Xiaomi Xiaoai smart alarm clock as a Bluetooth gateway. Speaking of which, we still need to spit it out. The categories and models of Bluetooth gateway supported by Mijia smart door lock push-pull look a lot, because the range of Bluetooth is only 10 meters, and in my case, only Xiaomi Xiaoai smart alarm clock and Xiaomi Mijia Xiaobai smart cameras enhanced version can be placed within 10 meters of the gate and can also play other functions besides Bluetooth gateway.

Because I bought Xiaomi Mijia smart cameras Yuntai Edition before, I only choose Xiaomi Xiaoai smart alarm clock now. What needs to be reminded here is that Mijia smart door lock can work normally without Bluetooth gateway, but if Mijia APP pushes the real-time message of door lock to you, or you want to check the real-time status of door lock, or link smart home, then Bluetooth gateway is necessary.

With the assistance of Bluetooth gateway, the push-pull type of Mijia smart door lock really gives me enough confidence in security. First of all, it has a built-in 7-fold intelligent sensor to detect the state of the door lock in real time, and give an alarm in time in case of abnormal situations such as picking the lock and not pulling out the key. The mobile phone installed with the "Mijia" APP and linked with the door lock can receive the message push notification in time, so that it can know who opened the door when and how. Just need to be reminded that if it is a Xiaomi mobile phone, you don’t need special settings. After all, the system takes good care of the Mijia APP. If it is an Android mobile phone of other brands, you need to protect the Mijia APP in the background and turn on the push notification, otherwise you won’t be able to receive the message push in real time.

In addition to real-time news push, I am most concerned about indoor security protection, because the Mijia multifunctional gateway I added earlier has security functions. In the "Mijia" APP, set the push-pull type of Mijia smart door lock. After turning on the manual protection function, as long as I close the door and click "√" on the front panel display of the door lock, I can turn on the indoor security, and when the door lock is unlocked normally, it can also be automatically disarmed.

Of course, in addition, the push-pull type of Mijia smart door lock can also be linked with more Mijia smart devices, making people feel the door to smart life in advance. For example, open the door and the air conditioner will start automatically and adjust to a comfortable temperature; Go home and push the door open, and the sweeping robot will automatically recharge; Push open the door at night and the light will light automatically. I won’t explain them in detail here.

Summary: After a month’s experience, the push-pull type of Mijia smart door lock gave me a very good experience, among which the C-class lock core and instant message gave me enough security. Now, when you go out, you don’t need to see if the key is in your bag. Just close the door and click on the panel to start indoor security, and children can receive news in time when they go home. If you have many Mijia smart devices at home, then the safe and reliable Mijia smart door lock push-pull type is really suitable for you. It doesn’t matter if there is no Mijia intelligence. Adding a Xiaomi Xiaoai smart alarm clock will make Mijia smart door lock push and pull to bring you the sense of security you need most.
